This faithfully recreated replica celebrates Nintendo’s legendary handheld console from 1989. While it’s not a functional device, the set is packed with details. The LEGO Game Boy consists of 421 pieces. Additionally, it maintains almost 1:1 scale (14 cm tall and 9 cm wide). The design closely replicates the familiar silhouette of the device. Similarly, the set also features volume and contrast dials, speaker grille, serial number, and even a red LED light to simulate a powered-on state.
The set includes two brick-built cartridges – The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land. To match them, it comes with three lenticular screen tiles. These include a classic Nintendo startup screen and one gameplay scene from each game. Importantly, these tiles swap easily, and the lenticular effect makes the image appear to shift with the viewing angle. As a result, this gives a subtle illusion of movement. However, it’s important to note: this is not a playable device.
